Injuries sustained from sports are quite frequent, with the stresses your body endures from a professional or recreational standpoint, the pain that follows is quite intense. Whatever you’re playing, the likelihood of an accident is bound to occur— and it happens to the best of us!

Whether you’re a professional athlete or not, when you’re injured, you want a faster recovery time and cryotherapy is the solution.

What is Cryotherapy?

Cryotherapy has been around for a long time. You may not realize it, but traditional forms of cryotherapy sustained from sports injuries or any other injuries have been performed using ice packs or cold-water immersion baths.

In most recent years, whole-body cryotherapy (WBC) has become a popular technique to soothe an irritated nervous system, provide pain relief, and reduce inflammation.

What differs from the traditional house remedy is that when you apply an ice pack, you may feel temporary relief— and that’s it. Temporary. However, when you do a sports cryotherapy session, your whole body is exposed to cold temperatures, which releases endorphins— your body’s natural painkillers.

The Impact of Sports Cryotherapy

Most athletes find cryotherapy valuable post training because it encourages an accelerated healing process by slowing down the metabolism of the cells. Whether you’re a racer, hiker, pacer, or anything in between, sports cryotherapy will help boost your energy levels to get back out there doing what you love most.

Cryotherapy is a treatment that uses subzero temperatures to soothe an irritated nervous system, provide pain relief, and reduce inflammation. It’s far more effective than an ice pack, and more comfortable than an ice bath, and each treatment only lasts three minutes!

  1. During a whole-body sports cryotherapy session, you will stand in a chamber, or cryosauna, wearing only gloves, socks, underwear, and booties.
  2. The chamber will fill up with a nitrogen vapor to drop the temperature, and your body will be surrounded by the cold that dropped as low as -200 degrees Fahrenheit.
  3. From there, one of our cryotherapy technicians will walk you through the entire process.

Other benefits of cryotherapy include:

  • Chronic Pain Relief
  • Weight Loss Management
  • Boost Immune System
  • Increased Active Performance
  • Improved Overall Health and Stamina
